Testosterone is the male hormone that is responsible for differentiating men from women. As men age, their testosterone levels drop – more and more with every decade of life, especially after midlife. Low T can cause many symptoms, including:
- Low energy
- Low sex drive
- Decrease in muscle mass
- Depression
- Weight gain
Low testosterone, which occurs in andropause (male menopause), can impact the health and quality of life of men. At the Institute for Health and Wellness, we evaluate testosterone levels through blood work. If the levels are too low, we will prescribe appropriate dosages of testosterone. These may be self-administered through injection or creams.
Some of the results of testosterone hormone replacement include increased muscle tone and strength, improved libido, decreased body fat, more energy and a more positive outlook and decreased irritability. It’s important to maintain good health and a high quality of live. If you’re feeling some of the symptoms of Low T, come in and get an evaluation.
